Net Logic release the Mini PIR (passive infrared) motion detect module for the Wireless BNWAS, WatchKeeper+ Net Logic are the developers and manufacturers of the world first type approved wireless Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System and have launched a new module for the system: the smallest PIR on the market. The wireless BNWAS has been the choice for Superyachts since the legislation came in due to the fact that it can be installed with minimum disruption to the vessel, its ease of installation, and the aesthetics. The system can be installed within 24 hours and the master control unit is an easily navigable LCD touch screen with blue pulsating lights. The wireless BNWAS has had the option of a PIR unit since it’s launch. This was developed initially as a wireless PIR that detects movement, whereby the system resets while you go about your normal bridge operation. The mini PIR is the smallest PIR available on the market and has been developed to use minimum bridge space and requiring only a simple interface with the Alarm Interface Unit. There are now two solutions on offer with the PIR sensors: the wireless unit which is the size of the Master Control Unit which has a 3.2” LCD touch screen, and has the advantage of it being wireless; and the Mini PIR which is 72mm x 62mm x 25mm, smaller in length than a biro, is wired in to the MCU. Jack Robinson, Global Distribution Manager, for Net Logic states: “During our many installs we became aware that many yachts have no space left within the bridge to fit a standard PIR or did not want to fit PIR of brands that resemble home alarm based movement sensors and look out of place of a Luxury yacht, so we launched the Mini PIR” The PIR motion sensor has become a standard choice for most yachts allowing simple automatic reset and reducing lost time at key moments such as during port arrivals or departure and reducing wear and tear on manual reset units. With this new market offering Net Logic stay ahead on the competition and remain consistent with their mission statement; creating simple solutions to complex problems. Net Logic are doing their bit for charity!! The Beverley 10K is this Sunday bringing together athletes from around the region. The race is well represented and sold out in a record 3 days with 1400 runners participating. Net Logic/GlobalView have our own finely tuned athletes taking part, namely; Karl Addrison, Dave Norton and Matt Wright. A win is not on the cards as the trio are not known for their speed in stark contrast to the WatchKeeper BNWAS they invented. A solid finish is the aspiration as the team prepare for the more gruelling Great North Run in aide of Diabetes UK later in the year!

This July the 1st the next tier of the Wireless BNWAS” title=”BNWAS”>BNWAS compliance regulations kicks in.
Legislation in accordance with the IMO:
-ships, of 500 gross tonnage and upwards but less than 3,000 gross tonnage, constructed before [1 July 2011], not later than the first survey after [1 July 2013];
-ships, of 150 gross tonnage and upwards but less than 500 gross tonnage constructed before [1 July 2011], not later than the first survey after [1 July 2014].
There are 18months (or first survey thereafter) to install 2699 yachts over 150gt to comply with the IMO regs. 2699yachts is 53% of the World’s fleet which equates to around 149 BNWAS installations per month globally if yachts get in there early with booking in their installation…otherwise a last minute panic to install could be on the cards.
If the yachts do not install early, there is potential to be held up which could render the yacht out of service for some time, causing loss of income for the yacht, and could have implications with insurance claims should there be any kind of incident.
Looking at these stats and the facts in front of us, with limited engineers available globally, we advise the BNWAS installation as soon as possible to minimize the risk of lost revenue and expensive surveys.

Since the legislation tier that came into force on July the 1st 2012, the Net logic team have been expanding their distribution network by selecting companies with an excellent reputation and wide reach, to offer the wireless BNWAS to their clients as an official distributor.
Distribution partners in the Superyacht sector have generally come to us due to consumer demand. In the case of e3 for example they had already started to receive request for quotes on a wireless BNWAS.
They contacted us and we carried out a demo for the team, this was received with great enthusiasm. e3 decided to stock the WatchKeeper+ as the only BNWAS e3 would supply.
Erik Nieuwmeijer, Group Sales Director for e3 commented:
We are delighted to add the wireless BNWAS system to our portfolio and to be able to offer it to our clients. We are well aware of the new regulations and are ideally placed to supply and install.
Since that time we have worked together to install many system on some of the Worlds most renowned superyachts. We are now working together to explore core options for the use of wireless technology as a cost saving tool for retrofitting.
